Tyra Hanson, Director of the Gallery along with Filmmaker, Michael Perlman have created a 30-minute documentary film showcasing seven of the Gallery at Somes Sound’s furniture makers who have been taught or apprenticed under the founders of the studio furniture movement, an American sub-field of studio craft. This film is dedicated to the New Hampshire Furniture Masters as they celebrate their 30 years as a nonprofit organization, with a focus on preserving the centuries-long tradition of custom furniture making in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, and Rhode Island.
