Samuel Wyatt

In Sam Wyatt’s twenty-year profession as a garden designer and builder, drawing from his degree in Sculpture from the Massachusetts College of Art, Sam explored how native plants, stone, and mosses could be employed sculpturally to create contemplative spaces of meditation and beauty. They taught him the power of natural beauty to transport and transform. As Sam transitioned to his studio practice with painting, he found himself inspired to navigate the concepts of light, shadow, decay and rebirth through watercolor and oil. He is fascinated by the effect of time on materials both manmade and natural, and finds himself drawn to spaces where structures are decaying and nature is rebounding.

Sam currently participates in exhibits along the East Coast, maintains an active studio in Vermont, and is preparing for an artist residency in Japan.
