Laura Ellis

Exploring the meeting of land, water and sky, and the dynamics of forms in space, Laura Ellis intuitively paints images of the natural world.  Her evocative, distilled paintings convey an expansive stillness and contemplative calm.

Laura’s undergraduate studies included a year in London studying ceramics and art history.  She later received a graduate degree and for years provided healthcare as a nurse practitioner.  Life’s unfolding led her to retire from clinical practice and return to her love of making art.  Her work is exhibited annually and held in collections across the country and abroad.

Laura lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  A fourth generation Mount Desert Island summer resident she is inspired by the island’s enchanting and enduring beauty.
