The Gallery at Somes Sound, in collaboration with the Wendell Gilley Museum and the Myers’s family, have the first public showing of a selection of paintings from this remarkable private collection.  The show will be held at the Wendell Gilley with an opening reception on Sunday, May 12 from 12 - 4 pm.

"As you study the paintings in this marvelous show, consider the discerning woman who gathered them and the honored artist who created them—a special kind of collaboration built upon a shared love of Maine ...

Paul Rickert’s response to place has won him admirers far and wide. One of his most ardent devotees was Susan Myers (1935-2017). Over the course of several decades, Myers filled her homes in Brooksville and Somesville with Rickert’s watercolors and oil paintings.  Rickert has been painting the coast of Maine for going on 50 years, traveling north and east from his home in Pennsylvania nearly every summer to set up his easel at Mount Desert Island, Stonington, his home in Brooksville and other spots along the way. Over the years he has become an intimate of harbors and an aficionado of light..."    Carl Little
