While Timothy Coleman often finds inspiration in sculpture, architecture, textiles and nature, he sees his work on the historical continuum of fine furniture through the ages. Coleman loves the innovative exploration of material and form of Art Deco, the organic carved forms of Art Nouveau, the solid simplicity of Chinese and Korean furniture and the sheer mastery of Eighteenth Century French and American furniture.  As a young adult, Coleman studied at the College of the Redwoods with master furniture maker, James Krenov. In 1989 he returned to New England where he has been creating original furniture ever since.
